BRUSSELS, 22nd August, 2026 (WAM) — The UAE Development Team won the Kortrijk Koerse race held yesterday in Belgium, a one-day event, with Dutch rider Sofie van Rooijen claiming first place after a 10-month absence from the winner’s podium.

Van Rooijen completed the 127.6-kilometre race in a time of 3 hours, 4 minutes and 17 seconds.

The Dutch rider repaid the team’s work in style, producing a powerful sprint to take the victory and return to the top step of the podium. Charlotte Kool (Fenix-Deceuninck) finished second, with Kathrin Schweinberger (Human Powered Health) completing the podium.

The UAE team lined up with a strong and experienced squad, featuring two riders from the WorldTour team alongside van Rooijen also Alena Ivanchenko. They were joined by young talents Fee Knaven, Eilidh Shaw and Magdalena Leis, as well as Emirati riders Zahra Hussain and Safiya Alsayegh.
