Across Abu Dhabi and Dubai, maternity wards witnessed emotional scenes as families marked both Eid and the arrival of their children. For medical teams too, these births stood out as milestones that blended celebration with purpose.

Eid holds a deeper meaning
For Pakistani couple Saqib Rauf and Farah Diba Sakib, this year’s Eid holds a deeper meaning. At exactly midnight on Eid day, they received life’s greatest gift in the form of their newborn baby at Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi. The baby boy is their second child, and weighed 3.44 kg.
Reflecting on the moment, Rauf said, “This Eid will always remain close to our hearts. Welcoming our baby at this time feels especially meaningful. Moments like these remind us of what truly matters. We hope his arrival brings brighter days ahead for everyone.” The father added that he feels very fortunate and is determined to provide a bright future for his little one.
“Being part of such moments is always deeply fulfilling. Welcoming a new life is a powerful reminder of hope and continuity. When a baby is born on a day of celebration, it adds an extra layer of significance for the family and for us as caregivers. We are honored to support families during these milestones and wish the baby a healthy and fulfilling journey ahead,” said Dr Sailaja Vuppu, HOD and Consultant Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

First child after eight years
A baby girl born in the early hours of Eid brought double joy to a Sri Lankan couple celebrating their first child after eight years of marriage.
Dr Shizra Shahnawaz, specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist, at Prime Hospital Dubai said the healthy newborn was delivered at 2:55am. The mother’s pregnancy had been closely monitored due to pregnancy-induced hypertension and gestational diabetes, making the safe delivery even more special for the family and medical team.
Dr Shizra Shahnawaz Specialist, OBGYN, Prime Hospital said, “On this blessed occasion of Eid, witnessing the birth of a new life fills my heart with immense gratitude and joy. As an obstetrician, every delivery is special, but a baby born on Eid carries a unique sense of hope, renewal, and divine blessing.
“It is a beautiful reminder of life’s miracles and the happiness that new beginnings bring to families. Being part of such a sacred moment is truly an honor. Wishing the newborn and family a lifetime of health, love, and countless blessings.”
The father reiterated that having their baby born on Eid made it even more meaningful for the family.
Diluka Abeyrathna, who is the father, said, “It is a day filled with joy, blessings, and togetherness, and our baby becomes a beautiful part of that. We are so thankful to Dr Shizra and the whole Prime team, as you all did your very best to make our dream so beautiful and lovely.”
Indian parents Shubhang Bhattacharya, a marketing manager, and Anushree Bhattacharya, a designer, welcomed their first child — a baby boy named Swaraj — on the morning of March 20, 2026, at 7.54am. Born via emergency Caesarean section at Aster Hospital Mankhool, the newborn weighed 3.410kg.

Expressing his delight, Shubhang said, “Overjoyed and elated to welcome our first-born child at Aster Hospital Mankhool on Eid Al Fitr. Thank you to all the staff and well-wishers. Eid Mubarak.”
Similarly, for another family, Eid became even more meaningful. At Thumbay University Hospital in Ajman,a healthy baby boy was born at 12.25am, marking a truly special blessing for his family.
The newborn, weighing 2.84 kg, is the first child of 31-year-old Ayesha Pant, an Indian national, and 30-year-old W. Rasanjana Srimantha Desilva, a Sri Lankan national.
The delivery was conducted by Dr Shanthi at Thumbay University Hospital, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and baby.
For the parents, the occasion of Eid became even more meaningful as they celebrated their first Eid as a family of three.
Speaking on the occasion, the delighted parents shared: “This Eid has given us the most precious gift of our lives. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful blessing. “Welcoming our baby on such a special day fills our hearts with gratitude and happiness. It truly feels like the start of something beautiful.”
