    Nikkei rises to record closing high on tech boost

    TOKYO, 24th April, 2026 (WAM) — Japan’s Nikkei share average rose for a third consecutive session and hit a record closing high, supported by heavily weighted tech stocks.

    The Nikkei closed up 0.47% at 59,416.49 while the broader Topix index fell 0.%04 to 3,714.85 points.

    Of the 1,600 stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s main market, 21% rose, 75% fell, and 2% remained unchanged.
